Text Messaging (SMS) Policy & Opt‑In Process

Last updated: October 21, 2026

No Shanks is a group golf trip and event platform. This page describes the text messages we send, exactly how a person opts in from inside the No Shanks app, and how they can opt out at any time. All SMS consent is collected inside the No Shanks application by the account holder themselves, as shown below.

1. What we send

No Shanks sends transactional trip alerts only — short, informational messages tied to a golf trip the recipient is participating in. The primary use is driver arrival notifications (for example: “Your driver is here”) on trips with arranged transportation.

2. How a user opts in (inside the app)

  1. The user opens their own profile in the No Shanks app.
  2. They enter their mobile number in the field labeled “Mobile number (for trip arrival texts)”. Saving a number alone does not turn on text messages — the helper text under the field says exactly that.
  3. They then turn on the separate, explicit consent switch labeled “Text me trip alerts”. The consent language is shown directly beneath the switch at the moment of opt‑in:
“By turning this on, you agree to receive trip text messages from No Shanks at the number above. Message & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out.”

This is how the opt-in looks in the product today:

The No Shanks app profile screen showing the mobile number field labeled 'Mobile number (for trip arrival texts)', helper text explaining that saving a number alone doesn't turn on texts, and the explicit 'Text me trip alerts' consent switch with its consent language.

The in-app opt-in: the mobile number field, the no-consent-by-default helper text, and the explicit “Text me trip alerts” switch with its consent language. (Phone number shown is a sample.)
